Bee Safe Bee Removal | Tree Base Bee Removal Without Structural Work

Service Details

This job took place mid-June with active bee traffic at the base of a mature tree. The bees were entering and exiting through a small opening near ground level, and activity was consistent throughout the day. After confirming the hive was established inside the tree base, I assessed removal options and ruled out full hive extraction since it would have required cutting into the tree, which we do not do under any circumstance. The removal focused on reducing active bees and stopping ongoing use of the cavity. A bee vacuum was used to collect bees directly from the entrance and surrounding area until surface activity dropped to a manageable level. Because the internal comb could not be accessed without tree damage, the goal was control rather than full structural removal. Once bee activity was reduced, the opening was treated using a labeled, commercially rated pesticide to discourage re-entry. After treatment, the hole at the base of the tree was sealed to block access and limit future use of the cavity. Some bees continued to circle the area for a period afterward, which is typical in these situations. The site was left stable, sealed, and no longer actively drawing traffic into the tree.
