Bee Safe Bee Removal | Exterior Column Hive Removal and Repair

Service Details

This job was in early July, mid-summer heat, with steady bee traffic going in and out of the top section of an exterior column. The hive was hidden inside the upper cavity, so the first step was confirming placement and size using a thermal image. The heat signature showed a concentrated cluster near the top cap, which matched the activity pattern seen from the ground. Access was set from the exterior without opening interior walls, keeping the scope tight and controlled. Once the column was opened, the hive structure and comb were fully exposed. Live removal was carried out section by section, and the bees were collected as the comb was taken down. After removal, the interior void was cleared and checked again with the thermal camera to confirm no remaining heat pockets. Existing insulation that had been compromised was pulled and replaced to restore the original barrier inside the column. The column was then rebuilt to match its original shape and finish. All access points were sealed, and exterior surfaces were repaired so the column was structurally sound and closed back up. After cleanup, some residual bee activity remained around the area, which is normal following a removal and typically settles as the remaining bees disperse.
