This stop involved two related tasks on the same property. The first was a simple exposed honey bee hive hanging from a tree near the front of the house. The cluster was accessible and not built into the wood, so I was able to remove it as a live hive without cutting into the tree. I secured the bees and comb for transport and cleared the immediate area so normal activity could taper off on its own over time. This was a straightforward removal with minimal disturbance to the property. The second part of the job focused on prevention for both bees and wasps around the structure. Activity had been noticed near the chimney and along exterior surfaces. Inside the fireplace, the chimney opening was sealed off with plastic to block access and limit movement into the living space. Outside, I applied a pet-safe and child-safe pesticide around the perimeter using an extension pole, which allowed coverage of higher areas without ladders. The goal was to discourage new nesting attempts as temperatures cooled and insects searched for shelter. By the end of the visit, the exposed hive was removed and preventive measures were in place. I went over the treated areas and explained what to expect over the next several days as remaining insects gradually dispersed and the barrier treatments took effect.
